Who is behind Gum of Gods?
Gum of Gods was founded in 2021 by Harris Hardy, who is still the founder and CEO. Marcus Ciavarelli joined in 2023 as Chief Marketing Officer. Every fact on this page links to its source in the References below.
The company started from a real problem. Harris was hooked on mastic for the jaw workout and as a natural alternative to regular gum, but the mastic he could buy kept letting him down. Amazon orders arrived yellow, stale and powdery. Orders straight from Greece took weeks, cost a lot, and sometimes showed up full of plant matter or completely melted.
Gum of Gods was built to fix that: source the best resin and ship it from the US.

What is actually in a tin of Gum of Gods?
The Classic Pack is raw mastic resin from the mastic trees of Chios, Greece. Nothing added. The nutrition label lists one ingredient, zero calories, gluten free and GMO free.
Each tin holds 25 grams, about a 30 day supply. The chew is firm and piney, far tougher than regular gum. Warm a piece in your mouth for 20 to 30 seconds and it softens instead of crumbling.
Flavored packs add named ingredients:
- Peppermint Pack: mastic coated in natural peppermint flavoring and stevia.
- Premium Pack: mastic with added pine pollen tincture and powder.
There is no plastic gum base in the Classic Pack because there is no gum base at all. Regular gum base contains plastics under US rules. Our best gum without a plastic gum base guide and microplastic guide explain why that matters.
Where does Gum of Gods mastic come from?
We buy wholesale from the Chios Mastic Growers Association, the cooperative that gathers and manages mastic production on Chios.
Mastiha is produced only in southern Chios. Tears are hand harvested.

How do I know the mastic is real?
Check any mastic brand, including us, against this list:
- Origin: is Chios, Greece named on the label?
- Ingredients: is it one line, mastic resin only, with no "gum base"?
- Look: are the tears large and clear-white, not small, yellow and dusty?
- Chew: does it crumble briefly, then come together into a firm chew?
- Contact: is there a real support email and phone number?
The full checklist, with brand comparisons, is in our mastic buyer's guide and real vs fake mastic guide.

How does the Gum of Gods subscription work?
Gum of Gods is subscription first, because daily chewers run out. Here is the exact wording from our Terms of Service:
Subscriptions: If you place a subscription order, your subscription will automatically renew 30 days after the original order date, and every 30 days after that. You can pause or cancel this subscription any time within your customer portal which can be accessed with the email you used to place the order, or by contacting our support team, support@gumofgods.us. If your subscription order has already been placed and you still want to cancel, we can do so as long as it has not yet shipped. We are unable to refund subscription orders that have already shipped.
And from our subscription and cancellation policy:
If you want to cancel or change your subscription, you can do it at any time. Your order confirmation emails have links to your order. You can manage your subscription from there.
Our product page offers a monthly plan and a 3-month plan.
What if something is wrong with my order?
Email support@gumofgods.us. The exact terms, including what counts as damaged or faulty and how food products are handled, are in our refund policy. If your order never arrives, we reimburse you.
Questions before you buy? Email support@gumofgods.us or call (610) 549-4668.
Why is Gum of Gods shipped from the US?
Mastic resin softens in heat and can melt in a hot truck or warehouse. Shipping from Greece takes weeks. Because we keep stock in the US, the gum spends less time in transit.
Store your tin out of hot cars and direct sun, and keep half chewed tears in a reusable gum tin. Mastic can be chewed more than once.
What do people use Gum of Gods for?
- Face muscle work: long, firm chew sessions. See gum for face muscles.
- A better daily gum: Chios mastic resin instead of a plastic gum base.
- A sleep and breathing routine: day chew plus mouth tape and nasal strips at night, in our sleep and breathing stack.
- Traditional uses: mastic has been studied for decades. We collect the research, with links, in our Chios mastic gum benefits hub.
What red flags should you watch for when buying mastic online?
- No company behind it. No founder, no address, no phone number, no support email.
- Vague origin. "Greek" or "Mediterranean" mastic with no mention of Chios.
- Hidden subscription terms. If you cannot find how renewals and cancellations work before you pay, walk away.
- Too good to be true pricing. Real Chios resin is scarce. Very cheap mastic is usually old, low grade or not mastic at all.
- Miracle promises. Be wary of any brand that promises a new face in a week or a cure for a disease.
We publish our founder, sourcing, subscription terms, refund policy and contact details so you can check every one of these yourself.
What should you expect the first time you chew it?
Put one or two tears in your mouth and let them warm for 20 to 30 seconds. They will feel gritty and crumble at first. Keep chewing gently and they come together into a single firm piece.
The first minutes taste strongly of pine and fresh herbs. That fades into a mild, clean chew that lasts a long session. Your face muscles will feel it, especially in the first week. Start with 10 to 15 minutes and build up.
If it sticks to dental work, or your jaw joint hurts, stop. Mastic is much harder than regular gum.
Is mastic gum safe to chew?
Mastic has been chewed around the Mediterranean for thousands of years, and the European Medicines Agency publishes a herbal monograph on it. For most healthy adults, the main side effect is a tired jaw.
If you are pregnant, take medication or have a medical condition, check with your doctor first. Our products are food, not medicine, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Who is Gum of Gods not for?
If you want a soft, sweet bubble gum, mastic is not that. The pine flavor takes some people a week to love; Peppermint helps, and our flavor guide can steer you.
If you have fragile dental work, crowns or jaw joint pain, ask your dentist before chewing firm resin daily. If you would rather not start a subscription, try the Sample Pack first.
So, is Gum of Gods legit?
Yes. A named founder running the company since 2021, mastic sourced from the Chios Mastic Growers Association, a one ingredient Classic Pack, published subscription terms you can cancel any time, and a real support email and phone number.
We are a small, US based team, and we answer our own support inbox. If something is wrong with an order, tell us at support@gumofgods.us and we will handle it under our refund policy. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the standard you should expect from any mastic brand.
Do not just take our word for it. Use the checklist above on us and on anyone else.
