Jawliner vs Mastic Gum: Ingredients, Hardness and Alternatives (2026)
Short answer: Jawliner is an engineered training gum: its labels list gum base, sugar alcohols and sweeteners, and it is rated to a set hardness of 6x to 10x (Hard) or up to 15x (Ultra Hard) standard gum. Chios mastic gum is a natural tree resin with nothing added (our Classic Pack), so it gives a tough, piney chew from a single source, with firmness that varies a little from tear to tear. Pick Jawliner if you want factory-set hardness and fruit flavors; pick mastic if you want a tough chew with no gum base and no sweeteners.
I run Gum of Gods, so I am not neutral. To keep this fair, every competitor fact here is quoted from that brand's own website, fetched on Oct 23, 2026, and linked at the bottom. Where a brand does not state something, we say so instead of guessing.

| Ingredients (as listed) | Hard: "Gum base, sorbitol, maltitol, flavorings, malic acid, citric acid, gum arabic, calcium carbonate, steviol glycosides, sucralose, carnauba wax."[2] Ultra Hard: "Gum base, maltitol, flavoring, gum arabic, carnauba wax, talc."[3] | Chios mastic resin with nothing added.[8] |

| How long to chew | Sessions of about 15 to 20 minutes, every other day. "Do not exceed 20 minutes per workout session."[2][3] | Chew as long as you like. Listen to your body and stop if your jaw gets sore. |

What is Jawliner?
JAWLINER says it "invented facial fitness chewing gum and has perfected its formula since 2018."[1] Its two gums are Hard and Ultra Hard. JAWLINER rates Hard at "6x to 10x higher mechanical resistance than standard confectionery gum" and Ultra Hard at "up to 15x the mechanical resistance of standard confectionery gum."[2][3]
Both are built on a gum base. The Hard ingredient list reads: "Gum base, sorbitol, maltitol, flavorings, malic acid, citric acid, gum arabic, calcium carbonate, steviol glycosides, sucralose, carnauba wax." The Ultra Hard list reads: "Gum base, maltitol, flavoring, gum arabic, carnauba wax, talc."[2][3] JAWLINER describes its gums as vegan and sugar-free.[2]
Its usage guidance is specific: chew in rounds of about 15 to 20 minutes in total, every other day, and "Do not exceed 20 minutes per workout session."[2][3] On the Ultra Hard page it warns people with fragile dental restorations, periodontitis or active jaw joint disorders not to use it.[3]
JAWLINER is also clear about limits. Its own Ultra Hard page says the gum "does not reduce subcutaneous facial fat deposits (localized fat loss is biologically impossible) nor alter underlying cranial bone architecture."[3] We agree that no gum, ours included, can promise a change in face shape.
What is Chios mastic gum?
Mastic is the resin of the mastic tree, Pistacia lentiscus.[11] Our Classic Pack is "Raw mastic resin from the mastic trees of Chios, Greece," with "Nothing added," 25 grams per tin, about a 30-day supply.[8] We source it from the Chios Mastic Growers Association.[8] For the full background, read what mastic gum is.
The biggest material difference is the base. Regular gum base contains plastics. Ours is tree resin. Jawliner and Jawco both list "gum base" without saying what is in it, so we do not make claims about their base. Our guides to what is in regular gum base and the best gum without a plastic gum base go deeper.
The chew itself: firm and piney, "far tougher than regular gum," and it softens as it warms in your mouth.[8] That makes it a real workout for your chewing muscles, without a sweetener or flavor coating.

Is Jawliner harder than mastic gum?
Jawliner publishes hardness numbers; we do not. Jawliner rates its Hard gum at 6x to 10x and its Ultra Hard at up to 15x standard gum.[2][3] Our product page describes mastic as "far tougher than regular gum," and we have not run a lab test that would let us put a number on it.[8] So if a stated multiplier matters to you, Jawliner is the one that gives you one.
Hardness is also not the only thing you feel. Mastic starts firm and gets more gum-like as it warms, while Jawliner describes its Ultra Hard as reusable over several sessions.[3]
What Jawliner says about mastic, and our answer
Jawliner's Ultra Hard FAQ says: "Natural mastic resin exhibits inconsistent hardness across batches, contains natural grit, and tends to become soft or sticky under heat."[3]
Part of that is fair. Mastic is a natural resin, so tears differ in size and firmness. That is why our instructions say 1 to 3 pieces depending on size. It does soften as it warms; that is how it turns from a crystal into a gum. Our resin is hand-harvested and cleaned with spring water, per our product page.[8] Keep tins out of hot cars and direct sun. If you want the same factory-set firmness every time, an engineered training gum is designed for that. If you want a tough chew from tree resin with nothing added, that is mastic.
Jawliner vs Jawco vs Falim vs mastic gum
People searching for an alternative to Jawliner usually also look at Jawco and Falim. Here is what each brand states on its own website.
| JAWLINER | JAWCO | Falim | Gum of Gods Classic Pack | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Training gum on a gum base[1][2] | Training gum on a gum base[4][5] | Everyday Turkish gum, including a mastic-flavored sugar-free version[6][7] | Natural tree resin (Chios mastic)[8] |
| Base | "Gum base"[2][3] | "Gum base"[4] | Not listed on its website[6] | Chios mastic resin, nothing added[8] |
| Sweeteners | Sorbitol, maltitol, steviol glycosides, sucralose (Hard); maltitol (Ultra Hard)[2][3] | Sorbitol, maltitol, steviol glycosides, sucralose[4] | Sugar-free per product name; full list not on website[7] | None added[8] |
| Stated hardness | 6x to 10x (Hard), up to 15x (Ultra Hard) vs standard gum[2][3] | "15x harder than common chewing gum"[5] | No hardness claim found | "Far tougher than regular gum"[8] |
| Use limits on its own page | Max 20 minutes per session[2] | Ages 16+, max two pieces a day[4] | None found | Listen to your body; stop if your jaw gets sore |

JAWCO
JAWCO is a US jawline gum brand run by Launchory LLC in San Luis Obispo, California.[4][5] It calls its gum "15x harder than common chewing gum."[5] Its Mighty Mint ingredient list reads: "Gum base, sorbitol, maltitol, natural & artificial flavors, gum arabic, malic acid, calcium carbonate, steviol glycosides (stevia extract), sucralose, carnauba wax." One piece is 2.5 g with 5 calories and 0 g sugars, and a pack has 35 pieces.[4]
Its warning is worth reading in full: "Recommended for ages 16+. Do not exceed more than two pieces per day. Overuse may lead to jaw discomfort. Stop using JAWCO if you feel any kind of pain from chewing."[4]
Falim
Falim is a Turkish everyday gum brand from Mondelez Türkiye. Its website does not market it as a jaw training gum.[6] Its range includes "Falım Damla Sakızı Aromalı Şekersiz Sakız 21g," which translates (our translation) as mastic-flavored sugar-free gum.[7] The brand page says Falım keeps alive Anatolia's centuries-old tradition of chewing mastic (our translation), and that titanium dioxide was removed from all Falim products as of 1 October 2022.[6]
What we could not verify: Falim's website does not list ingredients and tells shoppers to check the pack, and it makes no hardness claim. So we cannot say how much mastic, if any, its mastic-flavored gum contains, or how hard it is. If that matters to you, read the label on the pack.
That is the real split between the four: Jawliner and Jawco are engineered training gums, Falim is a flavored everyday gum, and Chios mastic is the raw resin itself. Our best gum for jaw workouts guide compares more options, and real vs fake mastic gum shows how to check any mastic product.

Does chewing hard gum change your face shape?
We do not promise that, and neither does Jawliner's own fine print.[3] What hard gum does give is resistance for your chewing muscles. Research shows that load is real: in a 2001 study of 15 women, 40 minutes of chewing a very hard gum raised jaw pain and fatigue scores, and they fell almost back to baseline within about 10 minutes of rest.[12] In a 2020 study of healthy adults, 40 and 60 minute sessions of chewing caused marked jaw fatigue.[13] Treat any hard chew as a workout, not a shortcut. How to chew mastic gum
- Put in 1 to 3 pieces, depending on size.
- Let them sit in your mouth for 15 to 30 seconds, then start chewing.
- Once you start, chew as long as you like. Listen to your body and stop if your jaw gets sore.
- Mastic is all natural, so the right number of pieces varies with tear size.
- Keep a half-chewed piece in a reusable gum tin to chew again later.
Dental work: mastic is significantly harder than regular gum.[8] Mastic is not recommended for people with dental work (fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures) or braces. Ask your dentist if you are unsure. The same goes for any hard training gum; Jawliner gives a similar warning.[3] If you have a jaw joint problem, ask your dentist first. More in our mastic gum side effects guide.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Jawliner if you want a stated hardness number, fruit or mint flavors, and a structured session plan.
- Choose Jawco if you want a training gum from a US-based brand with a simple two-pieces-a-day limit.
- Choose Falim if you want an everyday sugar-free gum with a mastic flavor, not a training chew.
- Choose Chios mastic if you want a tough chew with no gum base, no sweeteners and nothing added (Classic Pack), and you like a piney taste.
Prefer some flavor on your mastic? The Peppermint Pack adds a peppermint and stevia coating, the Premium Pack adds pine pollen, and the Maple Syrup Pack adds maple sugar and maple syrup.[14][15][16] See which mastic gum flavor to start with.

FAQ
Is Jawliner better than mastic gum?
It depends on what you want. Jawliner is an engineered training gum on a gum base, with a stated hardness of 6x to 10x (Hard) or up to 15x (Ultra Hard) standard gum, plus sweeteners and flavor. Chios mastic is a natural tree resin; the Gum of Gods Classic Pack has nothing added and gives a tough, piney chew. Choose Jawliner for a set hardness number and flavors, and mastic for a resin chew with no gum base and no sweeteners.
What is a natural alternative to Jawliner?
Chios mastic gum is the main natural alternative. It is the resin of the mastic tree from Chios, Greece. The Gum of Gods Classic Pack is Chios mastic resin with nothing added, so there is no gum base, no sugar alcohols and no sweeteners.
What is Jawliner gum made of?
According to JAWLINER, its Hard gum is made of gum base, sorbitol, maltitol, flavorings, malic acid, citric acid, gum arabic, calcium carbonate, steviol glycosides, sucralose and carnauba wax. Its Ultra Hard gum lists gum base, maltitol, flavoring, gum arabic, carnauba wax and talc.
Is Jawco the same as Jawliner?
No. They are separate brands. JAWCO is sold by Launchory LLC in San Luis Obispo, California, and says its gum is 15x harder than common chewing gum. JAWLINER says its gum is formulated and tested in Germany. Both list gum base, sugar alcohols and sweeteners.
Is Falim a mastic gum?
Falim makes a mastic-flavored sugar-free gum, but it is an everyday Turkish gum from Mondelez Türkiye, not raw mastic resin. Its website does not list ingredients and tells shoppers to check the pack, so we cannot say how much mastic it contains.
Does Jawliner or mastic gum change your face shape?
Neither should be sold as a face changer. Jawliner's own page says its gum does not reduce facial fat or alter bone. Hard gums give your chewing muscles resistance work, which is why they feel like a workout.
How do you chew mastic gum?
Put in 1 to 3 pieces depending on size, let them sit in your mouth for 15 to 30 seconds, then start chewing. Once you start, chew as long as you like. Listen to your body and stop if your jaw gets sore.
Can I chew Jawliner or mastic gum with crowns or braces?
Both brands warn against it. Jawliner says not to use its Ultra Hard gum with fragile dental restorations such as loose fillings, crowns, veneers or implants. Mastic is not recommended for people with dental work (fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures) or braces. Ask your dentist if you are unsure.
